The Sacred Disease Project

On the Name

In the fifth century BC, Hippocrates wrote On the Sacred Disease — a treatise arguing that epilepsy was not a curse from the gods, but a condition of the body, deserving of careful study and humane care. Twenty-five centuries later, the questions he raised about access, understanding, and dignity remain unfinished. For too many patients, specialty care still depends on geography, insurance, and means. Telehealth offers a different answer: care that travels, at no cost to those who need it most. The Sacred Disease Project answers them with a tool as simple as a screen, a connection, a clinician — care delivered across distance, freely, to those who would otherwise go without.
